Debbie McKibbin French Immersion Teacher/French Coordinator
Learning French has been an important part of my education. Growing up in Winnipeg afforded me the option of choosing a French Immersion program for my schooling. After completing a Science degree from the University of Manitoba in 1990, I decided to pursue a degree in Education, regardless of the fact there were no teaching jobs at the time! After a few years teaching for the Calgary Board of Education, I moved to Canmore and have been teaching for Canadian Rockies Public Schools in the French Immersion program for the last 20 years. I am currently teaching a half and half Kindergarten program with instruction in French for half a day and in English for the other half. I completed the graduate certificate in Transforming Teaching and Learning and am currently enrolled in the Teaching and Learning Languages program through the University of Calgary.
Jennifer Deurbrouck-Penney French Immersion Teacher/Learning Leader
First and foremost I am a proud graduate of the French immersion program. I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Education in 1996 with an elementary focus and a major in French . I have 17 successful years of experience teaching for the Calgary Board of Education. I teach French Immersion at the elementary level and for the last several years I have been teaching Grade 2. On a whim, over a year ago, I attended a professional fellowship information session through the Calgary Board of Education, submitted a proposal and was awarded a scholarship to complete my masters! I recently completed my graduate certificate in the Assistive Technologies for Learning in the Inclusive Classroom program and I am currently pursuing my graduate diploma in Teaching and Learning Languages.
